Travertino – The Oberoi!

Travertino - The Oberoi is one of those restaurants specializing in fine Italian dining. The name of the restaurant comes from the tavertine marble used for the most parts of the interior and decor. This polished honey-coloured stone was used by the Romans to sculpt many a gracious monuments and structures.

The restaurant has nothing spectacular in its ambience but is definitely stylish and tastefully done up. The walls of the restaurant have been made of tavertine marble with soft black lights that creates quite an unusual character. The contemporary design is further unleashed by the use of sage green upholstery, a rack of the finest Italian wine collection and tables set with the finest delicate cutlery. The restaurant is situated at the lobby level of the hotel.

Under the expert supervision of Chef Davide Rebeccato who looks over Travertino kitchen, some real classics are produced. His magical touch is obvious in the various dishes that travel to your table from the oven-top. The menu offers the finest Italian cuisine with a variety of fresh homemade pastas including gnocchi, ravioli, fettuccini and lasagna; Polenta and classical Italian specialties like Breast of Guinea Fowl, Pan Seared Diwers King Scallops with Black Truffles and Grilled Vegetables in Balsamic Vinegar.

Some Old Italian classic like caprese salad, minestrone and spaghetti aglio olio e peperoncino are very skilfully prepared along with some innovations of Chef Rebeccato like beetroot tortellini, Green pea ravioli with prawns, and wild mushroom risotto cannot be missed out. The chef’s special touches are evident in each of these dishes. Some other dishes you ought to try here are Grilled prawns and quinoa, spinach and egg tagliolini in pepper and artichoke, wild mushroom and potato tart, grilled wagyu rib eye and goat cheese. To ensure authentic flavour and taste, most of the ingredients used are sourced from Italy.

For desserts, try the Tiramisu, Hot chocolate pudding or homemade ice-cream. Adjacent to Travertino  is Enoteca, a glass-encased wine cellar with 1200 bottles of the finest wines for as perfect amalgamation of wine and food.
