Arola Restaurant and Bar – JW Marriott, Mumbai had a brand opening and was the talk of the town for many days after it opened its doors wide. This restaurant was all over in the media and received quite a number of praises as the best Spanish restaurant (hotel) in 2012.
Arola Restaurant and Bar is a Spanish Tapas bar as you can very well understand from the name. It is indeed the star of JW Marriott greeting you with a flashy signboard led by an array of spotlights that direct you to the lobby of the hotel. The USP of this Spanish bar is it overlooks the swimming pool of Marriott and the beautiful Arabian Sea. Rest there is nothing special to talk about the decor. It looks like any other five-star lounges with dim lit dining and bar area, dark wooden furnishing and a semi-circular bar that displays 30 types of gin.
At the helm of the restaurant is Chef Sergi Arola, a two star Michelin chef. He presents a range of Spanish gourmet dishes. Patata Bravas, Potato egg tortilla, Sous vide chicken, deconstructed chicken Caesar salad, Cocas (a Spanish version of pizza) are some of the many dishes that are creation of Arola. Each of these gourmet dishes stuffed with flavours are beautifully presented on glass, ceramic and stone plates.
The bar stocks an impressive list of 30 varieties of gin, one of its kind in Mumbai. Try Arola Restaurant and Bar’s signature gin and tonic cocktail and pair it with patata bravas. You surely will have the feeling of being in a Spanish bar.
