ITC Grand Central at Parel, Mumbai is a five-star luxury hotel celebrating a variety of culture and cuisines. K&K – Kebabs and Kurries pays tribute to the rich Hyderabadi, Lucknowi, North Indian and Mughlai cuisines. The ambience of the restaurant is very rugged yet represents the beauty of ancient Indian forts with high ceilings, soothing colours, brass motif engraved entrance and a gracious show kitchen where you can take the pleasure of watching chefs cook your dishes with utmost perfection. The sight of charcoal coated meat chunks and the magical aroma is enough to tickle your senses and increase your appetite twice.
As you get yourself seated and place your order, you wait eagerly for your dishes to arrive. The sight of the skilled chefs in the different kitchens entices your senses making you even hungrier. As the succulent kebabs make way to your table off the grill rods, you pounce like a carnivore and devour a piece into your mouth least bothered about how hot it is. That is exactly the magic of North Indian and Mughlai food.
The menu is very interesting. It walks you through a wide variety of kebabs cooked in Tawa, grill, tandoor and clay oven. The gravies and curries find a definition here with so many types under one roof – Korma, Qaliya, salan and do pyaza. Tali Hari Macchli, Murgh Angaar, Murgh Barrah, Sikandri Raan, Tala Gosht, Kakori Kebab, Gosht Hari Mirch, Tandoori murgh, Kalinga Machhi (a Orissa speciality fish dish with mustard), Burrhani Gosht, Chooze Biryani, Awadhi Biryani, Haleem, Quas-e-Quaza, Mirch Baigan ka Salan and Seh-Rangi-Pulao are some varieties to be tried here. Each of these ancient culinery delights is given a chefs’ twist to create something innovative.
However the restaurant is thoughtful enough to craft a menu for the vegetarians too. Green napkins and green goblets are served to their vegetarian guests so as not to create any confusion.
K&K – Kebabs and Kurries also hosts a Sunday Brunch with a variety of North Indian and Mughlai dishes like kebabs, curries, Dal Bukhara, Dum Biryani and some desserts. Accompany with wines, beer or a mocktail. For reservations, visit Bookyourtable.
